Ahh . . . BUTTERFLIES
The beautiful, incredible creature that is one of a few insects that undergo metamorphosis .
At least 23 different species are featured in Pure Images (rare cropping, no editing)
along with damselfly, moths, and skippers (close cousins of a sort).
There are 10 separate slide shows.
(23) angle wing and related butterflies
(22) buckeye, crescent, hairstreak, and blue butterflies
(28) damselfly and moths
(25) fritillary butterflies
(24) monarch butterflies
(13) mourning cloak, and satyr butterflies
(42) red spotted purple butterflies
(59) Eastern tiger swallowtail butterflies
(50) giant, black, spicebush, and zebra swallowtail butterflies
(21) white and sulphur butterflies, and skippers
There are many excellent books about butterflies, including some that use butterflies
as symbolism (check out my other products to see my booklets).
This site is not intended as a teaching site, but I am a qualified "Butterflier" which is a devoted studier of the species who seeks technical accuracy and true understanding of Butterflies and their life process. The study is serious, but not as serious as that of a scientist who studies insects (entomologist). If interest exists (e-mail demigail) I will add pages that discuss the life cycle of the butterflies and specifics of individual species.
In the meantime, NJOY what you see here and outside!
